What Are Permanent Manicures?

The Permanent Manicure Process

- Base Layer. The manicurist will first apply a very thin base layer. Once it is completely dry, apply a second layer of the base. It will then be cured under the UV lamp for about two to three minutes.
- Top Gel. Once the base layer is set, you can start coating your nails with the top gel. You have to paint over the tip just like what you did with the color gel. Then, cure it under the UV light for another two to three minutes.
- Remove Tacky. There are gels that can leave a tacky, sticky layer on or around your nails. This usually happens after curing your top gel. The manicurist will use a cotton ball that is dipped into isopropyl alcohol and will wipe over the tacky.
- Apply Cuticle Oil. To finish off your manicure, rub a cuticle oil into your skin, specifically around the base of the nail.
How Often Should You Touch Up?
Many are wondering if how often should they touch up their permanent manicure. Well, that would depend on how quick your nails would grow back. If you are tired of the color, or if it also lost its luster, you can apply regular polish on top of your soft gel. Some would touch it up every few weeks and they would return to the salon to get “fills” and color touch-ups to shade the area where the new growth appears. You will never get tired of your options because like traditional lacquers, the permanent polishes also come in a huge selection of colors.
